About the programme
The International MD Program (IMDP) at Vita-Salute San Raffaele
University (UniSR) aims at training international physicians with an outstanding broad cultural and professional preparation. Its aim is to addresses a globally growing need in medical education in a fast-changing world: 21st Century Medicine needs sharp-minded and adaptive individuals that would respond in a safe, effective and ethical manner to these ever-changing times.
This program offers the core ‘global’ skills necessary for the best practice of medicine by using highly integrated and innovative educational approaches and a personalized study path.
IMDP students have the chance to study and learn both at San Raffaele Hospital as well as at the several excellence health facilities of the Gruppo San Donato as well as at San Raffaele Research Institute, a leading biomedical research institute in Italy and Europe renown for biomedical innovation.
All candidates who wish to study Medicine in English taking advantages of this unique synergy are invited to join the IMDP which offers almost half of the places reserved to Non-EU citizens every year.
Students have the possibility to personalise their study plan following one of the 3 tracks available with several opportunities to dive in their specialization field during all the six years of the program. They are also allowed to spend part of their university curriculum abroad by participating to international exchanges and clinical or research thesis internships.
English is the official language for lessons and examinations; Italian language lessons are compulsory and offered for free to non-mother tongue students in order to enable their interaction with patients and hospital staff.
UniSR IMDP graduates can decide to work or to attend their residency in Italy or abroad since the IMDP is recognised by the WHO, the BGMC (UK) and by the ECFMG (USA).
Finally, UniSR is not just about study and leaning, but it’s also a hub of cultural, sport and fun activities where all students can dive into the real students’ life.
As an international MD student at UniSR, I was able to overcome my language and cultural barriers as well as to be involved in many extracurricular and social activities, which helped me develop my communication skills and personality. Going to UniSR is the best decision I ever made since it allowed me to be part of major health care and medical research.
